Global sales of the iPhone 12 Mini account for only six percent of the total revenue generated by the 2020 iPhone models. As a result, there has been speculation from US securities firm JP Morgan that Apple will stop production of the iPhone 12 mini in the second quarter.
JP Morgan supply chain analyst William Yang said he recently cut his production forecast for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini by 9 million and 11 million units, respectively. Other analysts now estimate that Apple will increase production of the largest cellphone in the iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, by 11 million units. That version sports a 6.7-inch screen and a 3687mAh battery
Even with poor sales, Apple is still expected to release four new phones later this year. The report says the tech giant may need to make some “optimizations” to improve performance. Apple may have to think about how it can increase the life of a smaller battery without increasing the screen size of the device.
