It was only a matter of time before someone took control of this year’s revolutionary pill-shaped cutout iPhone 14 and implements it in the android phone. And you probably won’t be surprised either that no manufacturer is responsible for this yet, but the creators of UI mods on Xiaomi smartphones.
At the moment, there is a theme under development on Xiaomi phones called Grumpy UI, which will add Dynamic Island, as Apple calls the animated section, to the upper edge of the display. This means that a small black island will appear next to the “hole” for the front camera, where you can hide, for example, the player, or incoming notifications will appear there. By the way, in China, Apple doesn’t call this Dynamic Island, but Smart Island.

But not all that glitters is gold. Grumpy UI is currently in the approval stage. Hopefully, the theme will be available to everyone. However, Vaibhav Jain points out on Twitter that for now the interface is only intended for the Chinese language, and could be expanded to other languages later (we don’t have much hope for Czech).

And then there’s another catch. The first Dynamic Island-style system change is said to have appeared in store with themes and patterns on Xiaomi phones, but was later removed directly from Xiaomi management, because it is said to have copied the iOS system design as well. However, it cannot be excluded that the Chinese manufacturer is preparing its own version of the “smart cutout”, which it will immediately implement in one of the next versions of the MIUI superstructure.
