In 2020, the price of flagship smartphones went up – among others due to the fact that Qualcomm integrated the 5G module with its chip, which increased the cost of this component. In the case of the iPhone, it should be similar and the cost of adding 5G support is to be $ 85 for the sub-6, or $ 135 for the mmWave.
How is Apple trying to cut costs so that these amounts do not translate directly into increases on store shelves? Unfortunately – where last year we had a big positive. Unfortunately, it is about batteries, but not necessarily about their capacity. Apple is trying to force suppliers to lower prices and simplify cell construction.

Ming Chi Kuo says this will cut the price of the battery by up to 50 percent over its predecessor. I’ve checked what that means, and I have no good news. The battery from the iPhone 11 Pro Max is worth $ 10, and that was the biggest link in Apple’s 2019 smartphones. They won’t save much on it.
Where is the positive in all this? There is a possibility that selected iPhone 12 models will hit without 5G support in some markets. Rather, it is about two cheaper models, which in this situation can be even more affordable (which does not necessarily mean that they will be cheap).
