The IPC Vínculos Community Project: Fostering Artistic Collaborations for Peace and Development

With its Links: Community Articulation in Movement strategy, which creates alliances with artistic, cultural and community organizations in Cali, the Popular Institute of Culture, IPC, is present in the territories.

“It is about supporting and linking ourselves with these institutions that are carrying out training and transformation processes, seeking environments with values, coexistence, a closer approach to peace through art,” explained Aurelia Ximena Venegas, leader of the IPC Vínculos Community project.

In the upper part of commune 20, the Semillas de Siloé organization is strengthened with this initiative of the District Administration, forging actors in a multipurpose field called: La Amistad.

Kevin Steven Cruz, director of Semillas de Siloé, highlighted the joint work that has allowed him to have the necessary tools to educate the children and young people of his organization in the arts.

“What has been achieved in this time is very valuable, because everything children can receive in knowledge of culture and art will allow them to have a better future tomorrow,” said Kevin.

In this regard, Asley Gutiérrez, a girl living in the sector, indicated: “I want to be a professional dancer, because I also really like to dance and teach other people, other children.”

Thus, girls and boys from neighborhoods like Lleras Camargo arrive on the field to give free rein to their creativity and physical skills, under the coordination of the Dramatic Arts graduate Lorena Segura Sabogal, who highlighted the strengthening of the social fabric and the use of time free.

Luz Fernández, a Vínculos participant, commented: “I want to learn to reach many countries, travel the world, meet many people and win trophies, medals and many dreams.”

And Nahomi Díaz, also from Vínculos, expressed: “I think it’s very cool, because you do different things, instead of lying in bed looking at your cell phone.”

The IPC invites the cultural groups of the District to be part of this initiative, which is given thanks to the Cali United for Life Development Plan, by doctor Jorge Iván Ospina and which has trained nearly 830 children and young people in the city.
