The IOC validates the sites of Tahiti and Place de la Concorde for the 2024 Olympic Games – All sports – Olympic Games

Tony Estanguet spoke from Paris by videoconference on Tuesday to the members of the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee gathered in Lausanne. The president of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organizing Committee (OCOG) has obtained the validation of two new sites for the organization of events for the 2024 Games.

These are the places that had been ratified by the OCOG board of directors, in other words Tahiti for surfing and Place de la Concorde for (up to) five urban sports or disciplines (climbing, skateboarding, basketball 3 x 3, BMX …) which remain to be determined. It will be a temporary installation which should be able to accommodate around 30,000 spectators. This place could also be the place, during the Games, of cultural events like concerts.

The Executive Board had to ratify these two sites because they have not so far been included in the plans provided to the IOC. However, it will be necessary to wait until the end of the current year for the full program of the 2024 Olympic Games to be decided.
