Dear representatives of the media,
In connection with numerous publications and heated discussion regarding the Paradise Tower project, we would like to express our position:
Our intention as an investor in the project has always been to create one of the most emblematic green buildings in Sofia.
The project agreed in the NAG by an extended expert council, on the basis of which a traffic analysis was made and approval was obtained from the Metropolitan Municipal Council, is at the conceptual level and is not mandatory.
The most important thing that the citizens of Sofia should know is that at this stage we do not have a project, we do not have a building permit and – accordingly – neither the actual height, nor the number of floors, nor the type of the future building have been determined. The Detailed Development Plan /PUP/ adopted by the SOS shows only the maximum limiting parameters of the possible building, and their achievement is not mandatory in any way. We have no such intention.
Our investment intention is to design a modern, world-class lifestyle building in Sofia, a type of “green” architectural concept, which the city’s residents will be proud of and perceive as one of the emblems of the capital. In addition, we have an idea to make landscaping and water attractions in the adjacent territory of the building, and also, with the consent of the Metropolitan Municipality, to improve and build a public entrance in the southeastern part of the South Park.
With the aim of maximum publicity, transparency and taking into account the public interest in the Paradise Tower project, we have started the organization of an open international competition at the world level. We will invite representatives of both the local government and the architectural circles to its jury. The competition will be prepared with the assistance of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, the Union of Architects in Bulgaria and the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design, as a guarantee of maximum transparency and consideration of different opinions. The received and awarded concepts will clearly show the best solution for the site and the optimal ratio between cost, height and floor space. Only then will it be known how tall the building will be and what silhouette it will have, and in all cases we will take into account the opinion of specialists and interested parties. Our goal is for the future building and its adjacent parts to fit perfectly harmoniously into the environment. In any case, the awarded project will go through all the legal procedures to get approval from the responsible authorities according to the established legal order. We believe that the debate on this topic should be professional and led by representatives of professional organizations and architects in Bulgaria.
It is our wish that the Paradise Tower project fully meets the public interest and the highest global professional standards, as its purpose is to add to, not take away from, the beauty of Sofia. We hope that the building will become one of the most beautiful symbols of the capital.
