The Investigative Committee announced the start of special proceedings against four Belarusians on charges of interfering with the work of the Central Election Commission

The press service of the Investigative Committee of Belarus reported the start of special proceedings against four Belarusians: Zhilochkina (Zhivoglod) E.N., Marinich P.M., Liber P.I., Dobrovolsky A.O. They were accused of interfering with the work of the Central Election Commission of Belarus.

All of the above Belarusians were accused of violating Part 2 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. They face restriction of liberty for a term of two to five years or imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

Literally it sounds like this:

“Obstructing the exercise by a citizen of the Republic of Belarus of the right to freely elect and be elected, participate in a referendum, voting on the recall of a deputy, conduct election campaigning, campaigning for a referendum or recall of a deputy, or obstructing the free exercise by citizens of the Republic of Belarus of the right of legislative initiative, campaigning for or against a proposal on the introduction of a draft law to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, or obstruction of the work of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for elections and holding republican referendums, election commissions, referendum commissions or commissions for voting on the recall of a deputy, committed with the use of violence, threats, deception, bribery or other means”

The Investigative Committee clarified that the start of special proceedings was agreed upon with the Prosecutor General of Belarus.

Special proceedings – criminal proceedings against an accused who is located outside the Republic of Belarus and avoids appearing before the body conducting the criminal proceedings.

In accordance with Part 1 of Article 468-27 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the Criminal Procedure Code), information about the conduct of special proceedings against the accused, the summoning of the accused to the criminal prosecution body is posted on the official website of the criminal prosecution body no later than one day working days from the date of adoption of the relevant decision.

Telegraf previously reported that on Tuesday, November 28, the Investigative Committee of Belarus spoke about the progress of the criminal case brought against members of the so-called Coordination Council. According to the department, more than a hundred people are already suspects in the case. According to the official representative of the Investigative Committee, Sergei Kabakovich, it was possible to increase the number of suspects thanks to information received from one of the council members who returned to Belarus after contacting the special commission.
