KAIST will introduce manufacturing AI metaverse factory technology to the global stage, which can be used when additional facilities such as conveyor lines need to be introduced to existing factory sites.
KAIST announced on the 13th that it plans to operate the ‘Manufacturing AI Metaverse Factory Experience Center’ at the ‘2023 Hannover Messe 2023’ to be held in Hanover, Germany for five days from the 17th to the 21st.
KAIST formed a collaboration consortium with UNIST, Hanyang University, Digiforet Co., Ltd., ABH Co., Ltd. and KEMP Co., Ltd. centering on the Manufacturing AI Big Data Center within the institution to create a ‘Manufacturing AI Metaverse Factory’ experience hall. We will set up a booth and welcome visitors.
Visitors can wear virtual reality (VR) equipment and experience the desired experience from stage 1 to stage 3 as if they were inside the site.
In Step 1, you will hear the process of collecting, storing, and analyzing manufacturing data, and you can practice it right away. It is very useful for beginners to understand the production process, so it can be used for job training for new employees in manufacturing companies.
In the second stage, it is possible to monitor and operate factory facilities from a distance through the metabus, and the experience will be provided to the Ulsan plant, which is about 9,000 km away from the German booth. If manufacturing AI automatically detects a dangerous situation and sends an alarm, workers can access the metaverse space even if they are far from the site, take safe action and prevent accidents.
In the third stage, you can freely arrange the facilities on the metaverse, which is exactly the same as the manufacturing site. This allows workers to apply various arrangements of equipment and autonomously judge convenience and efficiency to realize the optimal work flow.
Iljoong Kim, director of the Manufacturing AI Big Data Center at KAIST, said, “It will be a place to deliver solutions with AI technology to the challenges facing the global manufacturing industry.”
He continued, “If a company requests a blueprint including facility and line plans in the future, we will build the entire factory with manufacturing AI metaverse technology and develop it so that it can be checked in advance with augmented reality (VR).”
Meanwhile, the Hannover Industrial Fair was first held in 1947 and is the world’s largest industrial fair, celebrating its 76th this year. This year, under the theme of ‘Industrial Transformation-Making the Difference’, more than 4,000 companies such as Autodesk, Bosch, Microsoft, and Siemens participated in the latest innovations in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy, software, and IT. technology will be presented.
