The 21st edition of the international festival of circus artists is in full swing at Saint-Paul-les-Dax. Cirquassians from all over the world reveal all their talent until April 18, in this prestigious competition.

After two years of absence, the marquee lights up again. The international festival of circus artists returns to its quarters in Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, in the Landes. Until Monday, April 18, the curious will be able to marvel at some fifteen acts presented by artists from all over the world. A reunion eagerly awaited by young and old alike, “it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the circus because of the Covid, it feels good to find this joy again”, exults a young spectator.

On the program a duo of aerial trapeze artists, the stunning Chinese pole and acrobatic riders: the Nagaika Tribe. The opportunity to discover all the facets of this art in constant evolution and to share the passion of the artists.It’s magic, we feel lucky to be able to live our dreams but it’s not always easy”, explains Lilou Nonisfounder of the company Nagaïka Tribe. Itinerant life, precarious work, injuries, the life of circus artists is not easy in the shadow of the spotlight. This festival allows to honor this long-term work unknown to the general public.

This festival is also an opportunity for artists to land prestigious contracts. Among the spectators, an international jury composed of professionals will judge their performances. They are the representatives of the biggest circuses in the world: Cirque of the Sun, Monte Carlo, BouglioneBudapest…Some artists are already recognized but they need to make themselves known or to relaunch themselves especially after the Covid, they don’t know what they will be doing in a year or two”, explains Bruno Laloyepresident of the festival.

Throughout their six performances, the circus artists will redouble their inventiveness to try to win the many prizes, including the most coveted: the golden pine cone. The full winners will be unveiled on the last day of the festival, April 18. The ticket office is open online and at the Saint-Paul-lès-Dax tourist office.
