The prestigious “Tractor of the Year (TotY) 2025” competition officially begins with the “Let the Challenge Begin” event. This year it was held in Milan on June 18 and 19, marking the way to the “TotY 2025” awards.
During this time, tractor manufacturers had the opportunity to present their candidates to an international jury made up of 25 professional journalists from 25 different countries.
This year, 17 of the world’s leading tractor manufacturers will compete with 21 tractors in various TotY categories, showcasing their innovations and technological achievements.
Category TotY HighPower. This category is for tractors with more than 300 horsepower. The following will compete there: JCB 8830 iCON, New Holland T7.340 HD, Massey Ferguson 9S.425, Case IH Quadtrac 715 ASF Connect, Valtra S416.
Category TotY MidPower. For tractors with power from 150 to 280 horsepower, the competition is strong: Claas Arion 660, Case IH Puma ASF Connect CVXDrive, McCormick X7.624 VT-Drive, Valtra N175 Direct, Fendt 620 Vario.
TotY Utility. This category is for multi-purpose tractors with power from 70 to 150 horsepower and a maximum working weight of 9,000 kg. The latter are: Massey Ferguson, Steyr 4120 Plus, Lindner 70 Ldrive, Hattat T4125, Fendt e107 Vario, Tafe 7515.
In the special category TotYaimed at tractors above 40 HP for orchards, vineyards, hilly areas, the following tractors will compete for the award: Yanmar YT359, Antonio Carraro Toni 8900 TRG, Keestrac/Rigitrac B1e/SKE 40 , Landini Trekker 4, Ferrari E – Astral.
TotY Bot new this year. This category focuses on tractor robots without a cab equipped with a three-point hitch, GDP or electric power transmission. These tractors must be available on the European market and have a minimum Technical Readiness Level (TRL) of 8. Applicants will go through a different evaluation process and will be: Agxeed 5.115T2, AutoAgri ICS 20, Field Robotics Hammerhead, Black Shire RC 3075.
Standing TotY. By the end of July, the jury will select up to five finalists from all the tractors on display. This category assesses environmental impact, including emissions and on-board technologies that improve operational efficiency, active and passive safety, and reduce fuel consumption.
TotY 2025 winners will be announced on November 6, 2024 at the show EIMA International during the opening. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the technological performance of the latter’s tractors in person, as well as parades with detailed comments from experts.
