Until May 20, Mārupe School of Music and Art in cooperation with the Accordion Class of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Association of International Music Schools “Con Anima” is organizing the First International Accordionist Competition “Concord of Sounds 2021”. It will take place remotely with the participation of several hundred young accordionists from more than thirty countries.
The participants of the first international accordion competition “Concord of Sounds 2021” will compete remotely in the categories of solo performance, light music genre, ensemble and orchestra.
The director of the competition, Spodris Kačāns, says: “It is very interesting to work with people from so many different countries. There is a different culture here, one’s own understanding of what is going on, also in terms of language. It’s all interesting and a big challenge. The situation is different in many parts of the world. The education system is also different. ”
In an international competition, the performance of students of music schools, high schools and music colleges will be judged on video by almost 40 members of the jury, including teachers, professional musicians and the most outstanding accordion virtuosos.
Accordionist Anna Grigorjeva, a representative of the jury of the Concord of Sounds competition, admits that it is easier to go on stage and play than to make a video: “If you make a video, then every time you want more, more, more. Small mistake and again. We try to evaluate objectively. How a child feels on stage at all, what can be shown at all. From an artistic understanding that can be shown directly through music. ”
The competition jury has already received videos of all participants and the evaluation work has started. The winners of the International Competition for Young Accordionists will be announced on May 20.
