Valve announced the distribution of teams into groups at the first stage of The International 2023. Russian teams 9Pandas and Team Spirit will play each other for the right to enter the playoff bracket. Their opponents will also be Entity, Team SMG and Evil Geniuses. Teams from Eastern Europe will play each other in the opening match of the championship.
One team from each group will leave the tournament. The remaining participants will go to play the play-off matches. The winner of group A will choose a team from B (third or fourth), the second place will play with the remaining team. Participants from group C will play against teams from D.
The group stage of The International 2023 will take place from October 12 to 14 – four matches will be played in parallel. The play-offs will take place from October 14 to 16. The playoff matches will take place from October 20 to 28.
