Czech Television is perceived by many as a respected public institution where people with the highest moral credit work, so that they can then objectively report on events not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the world. Unfortunately, in the eyes of many people, the current form of CT does not correspond to this image. We often see tendentious reporting on the screens, when you can’t help but notice who the individual presenters are siding with and what results they would like for certain events.
The subordinates caught it
As it now appears, this fact may stem from a certain internal rottenness of Czech Television. This was managed to be hidden for a long time under the director Petr Dvořák, but as soon as the new general director Jan Souček took office, it is already coming to the surface.
Last year, several commissions had to be set up at Czech Television to investigate the behavior of the main presenter stars of this station. It was mainly about Mark Wollner and Nora Fridrichová, who were shown to behave inappropriately towards their subordinates and abuse their positions. It was a big surprise for many, because these two were perceived as moral beacons not only of CT, but of the whole society.
That this was not the case at all was finally proven by the incident, when these two moderators also got into each other under pressure and publicly accused each other of what they were doing. In the end, it turned out that Wollner had to leave the television, even though his alleged wrongdoings were swept under the carpet. In the end, Fridrich was allowed to stay, even though she was reprimanded.

It may just be the beginning
The new director has now decided to familiarize himself with the commission’s conclusions and partially ventilate them publicly. At the same time, his words reveal that truly outrageous things were happening on Czech Television. “Regarding the team of ČT Reporters and Mark Wollner, I must say that the protocols contain descriptions of situations that I have never encountered in my 30 years of career in the media and which I consider unacceptable.” said Souček in full. That’s a really sharp statement, although we still don’t know the details. Apparently, it was really unacceptable behavior towards subordinates. There were public accusations that, for example, he forced some female editors to meow, etc.

At the same time, it is a question whether these were the only problems that took place at Czech Television and whether there were more by chance, but it is not known yet. The truth is that in the last ten years this institution has been heavily conserved, the leaders of the programs and the main faces here have been given a certain assurance that nothing will threaten them, and this is exactly the environment in which such matters can occur.
