The Interconnected Dangers Facing Our Planet and the Urgency of COP28 Summit

There is no issue on our planet that is not connected in some way to another issue. There is always the butterfly effect, and all of our planet is interconnected with each other, and humans are linked to their destinies on this planet on which they live, and the danger that threatens an area of the Arctic has its impact on the Australian shores, the southernmost point on the Earth. This is the logic of nature, which has its own strict and resolute laws, and does not understand exceptions. Hence the importance of the COP28 summit held at the end of this November in the United Arab Emirates.
Whoever says that he is outside the context of the world’s crises is living outside the contexts of logic in its broader, comprehensive perspective. We, the inhabitants of planet Earth, face real catastrophic challenges and dangers facing the entire world. These are dangers that do not know lines of longitude or latitude. They are also challenges that do not know sovereign borders or the distinctions of countries between strong and weak, “first world” or “third world.” These are clear challenges and dangers. For all, or so it should be, and it requires a unified international humanitarian collective confrontation that does not exclude anyone on the face of the earth.
In our fantasy imaginations, we are accustomed to making cinematic films depicting terrifying stories, for entertainment purposes of course, centering around external forces invading the Earth and threatening the planet, so we join forces to confront the danger coming from outside our atmosphere. Of course, there is always the American savior, and Glory be to God, the “enemies coming from outer space” only find American territory as their target.
In reality, which is now touching the limits of our fantastic imaginations, the situation is different, and there is no place for entertainment and amusement, and the external forces this time are from our atmosphere itself, and we – and that irony – are the enemies who created the danger and we must now confront it and end its causes. Targeting is not subject to the rules of Hollywood, its directors, and producers. Rather, it is real targeting related to global warming and climate crises that are interconnected, and linked to our human behavior as a single unit. Nature does not and will not understand our human differences, the diversity of our crises, or even their political and ideological foundations.
The world now has a precious and rare opportunity. The Earth is still rotating, and its rotation means available time, even if it is passing quickly. The challenges are still there as they are. Rather, their size is increasing and their danger is intensifying, and their repercussions do not distinguish between one country and another.
The commitment of specific countries to the exclusion of all other countries does not solve the crisis, and strict humanitarian adherence to solutions to climate crises and environmental solutions has become an individual obligation, that is, obligatory for everyone, and it is not suitable for it to be a sufficient obligation if some people carry it out and others do not.
These human crises and wars are the first challenges to the unity of the global position in the face of a danger that threatens everyone without exception.
Therefore, all of humanity, represented by its international community, is now concerned with giving “COP28” the highest priority on its agenda, and nothing else is possible.
It is the end of a year that closes all the challenges facing the world and opens a new year in which there may be great hope for a habitable planet… and the Earth is still rotating.
