The intensive care unit of the Montluçon hospital center (Allier) saturated

The pressure is growing at the Montluçon hospital center as the end of the year holidays approach. “We were on a stable dynamic but, for a few days, we have seen a daily increase in hospitalizations linked to Covid”, explains Bernadette Mallot, director of the Montluçon / Néris-les-Bains hospital center.

In ten days, the establishment has grown from fourteen Covid patients, including four in intensive care, to twenty patients treated for the coronavirus, including seven in continuing care.

Six of seven patients in intensive care not vaccinated

“Among these seven patients – who are between 32 and 70 years old – six are not vaccinated”, continues the director. Monday, at the end of the day, including pathologies other than Covid, the twelve intensive care beds of the establishment were occupied.

The transfer of a patient from Montluçon to Vichy

“We are extremely dangerous because if there are needs, we know that we have no room and we are not able to reopen beds. Yesterday (Monday, Editor’s note), Moulins was also saturated. And we had to transfer, during the night, a patient to the Vichy hospital which still had a little room, ”continues Bernadette Mallot.
