The Leonés Art Center (Avenida Independencia, 18), dependent on the ILC of the Provincial Council, will host the exhibition until next January 8 A look from within. History of a pandemic in pictures, a photographic exhibition organized by the Leon School of Nursing in collaboration with the Leonés Institute of Culture and whose objective is to make known to the whole society the work of health professionals in the toughest moments of the pandemic.
The exhibition consists of about thirty photographs, in 35 x 50 format, mainly in black and white, but also in color, and which are the work of Esther Lagares, a nurse at the Juan Ramón Jiménez hospital in Huelva and an amateur photographer. She is the one who has wanted to give her images to the León Nursing College “so that the people of León have a vision of the intense work that was carried out then and of the emotions we feel, reflected by the nurses during the crudest stage of the pandemic ».
The exhibition was opened by Pablo López Presa, deputy for Culture, Art and Heritage, and by José Luis Blanco Valle, president of the Illustrious College of Nursing of León. During the event, Blanco Valle emphasized that one of the aims of the initiative is to show “that nurses are not robots or machines, that we have feelings and that those feelings and that effort that all health professionals make were put into manifested, as few times before, on the occasion of the pandemic. For his part, López Presa pointed out that, with this exhibition, the Leonés de Arte Center also opens itself to social issues and welcomes a theme “of total importance at the present time.”
“Without realizing it, I began to tell a story of an uncertain end and destiny, a story through images, from the inside, that told a situation that was very difficult to explain in words. A look from the other side, “he says.
