The Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS), the body responsible for handling compensation for damage caused by the Damascus road, has received a total of 109,480 claims, according to the data released this Thursday by the Government. They represent about 64,000 more applications than the registered three days ago.
Requests. Of the nearly 110,000 requests for compensation, 46% are being processed. Of the registered requests, 33,852 correspond to homes, 66,067 to cars, 6,834 to damage in shops and warehouses, 509 to offices, 2,195 to industrial buildings and 23 to civil works.
- To speed up the processing of these requests, the Insurance Consortium has begun to send nearly 500 experts to the areas affected by the damage as access restrictions allow.
- They work in collaboration with insurers and intermediaries, who have provided their professionals.
Light emergency measures approved by the Government To minimize the impact of the damage, they detailed, in terms of compensation for vehicles, the compensation –which has already begun to be paid– they will be 20% higher than their value.
Requirements to access compensation:
- Have a current insurance policy and the premium paid.
- The consortium indemnifies under the terms of the original insurance policy (property, capital,
boundaries, etc.).
Types of compensation:
- Damage to property (direct materials). The policy must cover risks such as fire, theft or
damage to electronic equipment. Examples: multi-peril insurance for home, commercial, business,
etc. - Vehicle damage. You must have cover for damage to the car (whether extensive,
windows, theft) or compulsory vehicle insurance (for third parties). - Personal injury (injury or death). You must have life or accident insurance
with death, disability or temporary disability cover. - Loss of profits. It is only covered if the insurance policy specifies it and if the damage is affected
insurance fund.
