The difference in the installation of games between the two generations of Sony consoles concerns only the dematerialized versions. The standard PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition will both provide customize the way games are installed.

It means that the players will be able to choose themselves which data “block” to install. Concretely, a player who is only interested in the multiplayer races of Gran Turismo 7 will not install the game’s campaign mode. Another scenario would be for example to install the whole game. Once the campaign is over, it can be uninstalled. This would allow players to free up space on their console.
In conclusion, the possibility of choosing which part of a game to install is a very good idea from Sony. In addition to saving storage space, downloading is faster and consumes less data.
