The actor from the famous Hrušínský family literally went through hell a few years ago. His body resigned and the founder of the Na Jezerce Theater literally ran away from the gravedigger’s shovel. He went through a ruptured artery, gallbladder and bilateral pneumonia all at once. A ventilator had to breathe for him.
Jan Hrušínský, the popular actor and principal of the Theater Na Jezerce, literally went through hell in 2015. He suffered a collapse in which several organs terminated his service at once. He even had to breathe on a ventilator for him and was in artificial sleep for twelve days. A seven-hour operation followed, when the actor’s life was literally at stake.
In artificial sleep, he had dreams that he remembered
Even though he was on the verge of death, Jan remembers that he had adventurous dreams that he remembered even after waking up.
“I ended up in a sanatorium, they cut me open and I ran away with my stomach open. I went to Dětenice because I had a film shot there. I arrived and the production manager said to me: Mr. Hrušínský, look how stupid you are, what you are doing to us with that costume! And I had a huge bloodstain on me. Bolek Polívka, who also played there, said: Wait, I’ll sew up the hole, leave us here for a while, it’s nothing,” Hrušínský recalled one particular for DNES magazine.
This dream also excited doctors, who are now investigating what happens to the brain during artificial sleep. In the second, the actor allegedly met Jiří Kodet and other actors. After waking up, he was so confused by this experience that he asked his wife, the actress Miluška Šplechtová, if he had dreamed it or if it had really happened.
The family took turns at his bedside, the daughters even sang to him
The family took turns at Hrušínský’s bedside the entire time he was in the hospital. His wife read to him, told him stories, and the daughters even sang songs that Jan likes. Perhaps thanks to them, he got out of the tragic state and is now back in full force.
Nevertheless, he realizes that he must give his body a break from time to time so that the situation does not repeat itself. In addition, he is supervised by his family, because they all live together in a villa in Prague’s Nuslí. In addition to Jan and Miluš, their daughter Kristýna lives there with her husband Matěj Balcar and son Vojta. Hrušínský is also a full-fledged grandfather. The actor’s second daughter lives in the USA, where she went to study and has already stayed there. Otherwise, Hrušínský manages the Theater Na Jezerce, where he also plays in several productions.
