A mountain cannot be torn down: a mountain stands solid, resistant and immovable in the face of any kind of difficulty. He knows it well Yann-Aurel Bissecka 196 cm tall German boy who has had to face various obstacles in his career.
Born in Cologne on November 29, 2000 to Cameroonian parents, as a child Yann dreamed of becoming a doctor. Football for him was just fun: Bisseck began to really believe in his ability in the Under 17 of Cologne, thanks to the trust of coach Markus Daun. Here Yann takes flight: a sudden and surprising growth, which leads him to make his debut in the first team in 2017 at just 16 years and 11 months against Hertha Berlin, becoming the youngest German debutant in the history of the Bundesliga. Ninety minutes in which Yann completes 96% of attempted passes and wins all duels: one in particular, a header against Davie Selke definitely convinces him of his abilities.
However, Cologne struggled not to relegate and the young Bisseck collected only three appearances: a complicated period for Yann, who however found an example to follow in Claudio Pizarro, legend of the Bundesliga and at the time his neighbor in the Cologne locker room. The following season Bisseck moved on loan to second division Holstein Kiel, but an injury kept him out of action for a very long time. Yann has to fight for his career: he does it first in Holland, at Roda Kerkrade, then especially at Vitoria Guimaraes in the 2020/21 season.
In Portugal, Bisseck’s dream seems to be weakening more and more: Yann finds it hard to settle in and has to face a new injury, but he finds the strength to start again thanks to the help of his teammates from the second team. A period that, according to him, helped him become stronger, especially from his mental point of view.
The definitive turning point comes in the summer of 2021, when Cologne sells him to Aarhus, Denmark: Bisseck explodes, plays 68 games in two years and becomes a pillar of the Danish team. His performances also allow him to win the call-up with the German Under 21, of which he becomes captain in a short time.
Personality, physique and great ability to set up with both feet: David Nielsen, his first coach at Aarhus recently declared that Bisseck is the prototype of the modern defender, a real “walking mountain”.
