The professional soccer player Giovanna Hoffmannwho is under contract with Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, explained towards the “Football with Vision” platformthat their Christian faith doesn’t just take place in church on Sundays. Rather, she experiences the relationship with Jesus in every everyday situation. She maintains her connection with him through prayer and reading the Bible. Giovanna Hoffmann emphasized the importance of her faith:

Her father had already pointed out to her that football wasn’t everything in life. In the course of the injury, she realized “that everything is temporary” and that we “don’t have our lives in our hands.” The experience of being ripped from one moment to the next from the world of “better, faster, further” and no longer being able to walk independently did something to her. Looking back, Giovanna Hoffmann described:
“It was like God put me in the stands to speak to my heart.”
Suddenly, as a 16-year-old teenager, she had questions like “What happens if I die? Where do I go then?” played an important role, for which she found an answer in the Bible. She was particularly inspired by the Bible passage Matthew 16:26, which Giovanna Hoffmann explains as follows: “What good is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul? Is there anything more precious than the soul?”
