Declared by Latin Vogue magazine as the new “King of New York Fashion Week”, Raúl Peñaranda, Colombian-Venezuelan designer, has traced an impressive path from his hometown to the heart of New York’s Fashion District.

“I think that what I do does not define me, but humility, and knowing that no one is better than anyone else, that I love what I do and that fashion is my language before the world, is the way to Raúl Peñaranda’s success. ”says the designer.

Peñaranda is the third Latino who, after Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, has presented 28 uninterrupted collections at New York Fashion Week.

“For me it is a great honor, but it is also the work of the great team that I call family, it is not only the collection, but the seamstresses, the parodist, the models and even the person who cleans,” he adds.

The launch of her second line at fashion week, titled “RAUL”, is aimed at a broader audience, with the idea of ​​including a youthful and more affordable element to what gala dresses are.

Raúl Peñaranda tells us who he thought of when he designed this collection:

“And it is dedicated to that independent woman like you, the woman who is independent, hard-working, and who uses fashion as an extension of her own personality.”

But always preserving its roots.

“Look, as part of Raúl Peñaranda’s DNA, my roots and cultures are impregnated in each piece, you will see spectacular colors like fuchsia, green, yellow, also black, because I think that a season cannot limit you when suddenly “You want to make a collection,” he says.

She says that her journey in the world of fashion finds its roots in Cali, where she grew up with her mother, who worked as a seamstress.

“My dad wanted me to be a soccer player and I was worse with a ball, while I saw that my mother made clothes for my sisters, and a shirt for me with what was left, and I swear that I was the happiest child in the world.” world, so that’s where that career began, and that exploration of what fashion is.”

However, his success was not without challenges, from overcoming economic barriers and fighting in a highly competitive market were tests that shaped his determination.

“Anyone can do it with discipline, humility, resilience and more than all the knowledge that you do it has to contribute to our world,” he maintains.
