I remember a few 30 years see them news on television and how I was struck by images where they showed how they robbed in the streets of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil): group attacks, without hesitation and with violence.
In those days I was younger and I liked to enjoy the Barcelona night, and I was beginning to see teenagers trying stealing carelessly around La Rambla. It was very simple: just as they came, you would just put them aside; we were light years away of those images that so impacted me on television.
For a few years, that news is no longer so far away and it is what perhaps now may be seeing a swiss teenager, Austrian or Finnish when their television channels report the situation of Barcelona, with the difference that they may never get the unsafety to their city because they have competent politicians who know how to manage their cities and, if not, make the decision to resign.
Now I’m not that teenager anymore, I’m the one father of a teenage girl that has already been docked and it is growing in a city like that Rio de Janeiro that I witnessed and so alarmed me. In Barcelona we already have organized gangs and I would even say that some paid, since the theft of mobiles and watches luxury has become a good business for some.
This week my daughter told me that she has read that in some South American city sometimes they shoot from a person to steal their mobile. If they are not taken measures, maybe my daughter, 30 years from now, will send a paper explaining that what he had read 30 years ago is what he is living in 2051, if not 2030.
