The comedian Pierre Palmade (here pictured in Paris on September 9, 2015) will be set next Tuesday by the courts on whether or not he is placed in pre-trial detention.

MISCELLANEOUS – Finally some encouraging news for the victims. The three seriously injured in the road accident caused by Pierre Palmade at the beginning of February last under the influence of cocaine are now “all out of the hospital”, announced to Agence France press (AFP) their lawyer this Friday March 10.

The victims, three members of the same family, were hospitalized after being hit in the face by the comedian’s vehicle, whose friend and actress Muriel Robin denounced an article about her in Paris Match. Among them, a 38-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby she was expecting after the collision.

Taken care of at the Necker hospital in Paris, the little boy was the first to be released on February 27, after being in a coma for 6 days. According to his lawyer, he had a broken jaw after being hit in the head and was having difficulty speaking, drinking and eating when he left hospital.

Lifelong scars for father and son

“He has a probe to feed himself, he is in a very very complicated state”said Me Mourad Battikh on the eve of his release, indicating that the boy would have lifelong consequences from the accident.

Her aunt, who was six months pregnant at the time of the accident, also left hospital at the end of February. She had to undergo an emergency caesarean at the time of her treatment; the baby is born “viable and alive”, before dying half an hour later. An aggravating circumstance for the comedian, who thus found himself indicted for “homicide and involuntary injuries by driver having used narcotic products in a state of legal recidivism”.

The father of the little boy, more severely affected than the others, therefore left at the beginning of March. His vital organs having been affected, he had to undergo numerous operations. His left foot is still in very poor condition and he will, according to information from BFMTV, probably have trouble walking again.

An expected decision on Palmade’s pre-trial detention

The 54-year-old comedian, for his part, is still being cared for at the Marie Lannelongue hospital, in Plessis Robinson, where he was transferred on March 5. Suffering from multiple bruises, including broken ribs, he also suffered a stroke at the end of February. He is currently awaiting a court decision on his placement, or not, in pre-trial detention.

The investigating judge of Melun (Seine-et-Marne), in charge of the investigation, indeed acceded to her request for release on Monday, but the prosecution appealed in the process with an interim detention, which had the effect of suspending its release.

The Paris Court of Appeal, on which Seine-et-Marne depends, however decided on March 7 not to maintain the suspensive effect of the interim detention, resulting in the release under judicial supervision of Pierre Palmade. A final decision is expected on March 14.

In addition to this case, there are investigations into the possession of child pornography images, launched after a report was made to the police. But no charges have been brought against the comedian in this case at this stage.
