TEXAS – Telemundo 39 / KXTX and NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS present their popular campaign Desocupar Los Albergues ™ which will run from August 23 to September 19.
This is the seventh year in a row that the popular pet adoption drive has been held in area communities. Since 2015, Telemundo 39 and NBC 5’s local campaign “Desocupar Los Albergues” has helped some 45,000 pets find new homes. Nationally, more than half a million pets have been adopted. Visit ClearTheShelters.com for more information.
“This annual campaign has helped inspire thousands in our community to adopt homeless pets from crowded animal shelters each year,” said Tom Ehlmann, president and CEO of NBC 5 and Telemundo 39. “It is a privilege for us to raise awareness about this major problem that hampers many local shelters. By partnering with them, we hope to alleviate the crowding and financial strain that many experience at this time of year. “
This year Vacupar Los Albergues will once again feature online donations through the fundraising site Greater Good Charities. Those interested in donating to a participating shelter can visit the Greater Good Charities donation site during the ClearTheSheltersFund.org campaign, which will also be accessible through ClearTheShelters.com. For the fourth consecutive year, the national sponsor of Vacate The Shelters is Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
Virtual pet adoptions are also returning for the 2021 campaign via the WeRescue site. The WeRescue app allowed users to locate adoptable pets in their area, submit their adoption requests, and ask questions directly to shelters. iHeartDogs, a former partner of Vacate The Shelters, will once again donate needed pet supplies to select shelters this year. Leading social media animal brand The Dodo will once again serve as a media partner.
Stations will announce local fundraising totals and the number of pets adopted from area shelters through virtual and in-person adoptions after the conclusion of Vacate The Shelters.
