An initiative published on the portal manabalss.lv on the prohibition of the use of pesticides in the vicinity of populated country houses collect 10,000 signatures.

“In order to protect the health of people living in rural areas, the use of pesticides near their homes should be banned. The conditional compromise distance would be 1 kilometer, which will significantly reduce the risk of inhalation of harmful substances, as well as their entry into drinking water and home garden crops, ”says the initiative.

The chairman of the association “Farmers’ Saeima” evaluates whether farmers could comply with such a prohibition Juris Lazdins.
