The L’Equipe sports newspaper had “fun” doing
18 regional selections
of players, depending mainly on their place of birth, but also on the fact of having grown up there or being from there. The goal is to see the degree of influence of each region in football. In the 18 regions there are of course the 5 overseas. Finally, players who have opted for another nationality are still counted.

Unsurprisingly, for the New Aquitaine region, there are several players from the Girondins de Bordeaux, whether they are still there, whether they were there or were born. Seven players from the starting XI are “made in Girondins”. The defense is made up of Jules Kounde (FC Barcelona ESP) and jonathan gradet (Lens L1), the middle ofAdrien Silva (ex Al-Wahda EAU), Pierre Lees-Melou (Brest L1) and Matthew Valbuena
(formerly Olympiakos GRE) and finally Gaetan Laborde (Nice L1) in attack.

Zaydou Youssouf (Famalicao POR). Note the presence of Remi Oudin et Gaétan
Weissbeck

Rouyard
in that of Guadeloupe, Clement Michelin for Occitania and Gaetan Poussin for Brittany.

Born in Niort (Deux-Sèvres), Étienne Capoue could equally evolve with the Guadeloupe or New Aquitaine. Ditto for the striker from the Martinique and born in Mont-de-Marsan Loïs Diony.
