Grimstad municipality reports ten new infected on Monday night. So far, 24 people associated with Drottningborg upper secondary school have received corona.

GRIMSTAD: Tonight, the municipal chief in Grimstad has been notified of ten new infections in Grimstad. Four are students at Drottningborg upper secondary school, one is associated with infection in kindergarten and five are adults.

The municipality announces this in a press release.

High number

– There is a relatively high number of new infected, but fortunately everyone has a known route of infection. More than half of those isolated in Grimstad still belong to the outbreak at Drottningborg upper secondary school, which now appears more clear, says municipal chief physician Sturla Aam-Quabeck.

At Drottningborg upper secondary school, a total of 24 students and staff have been infected in the ongoing outbreak.

Infection in kindergarten

A kindergarten in Grimstad is also affected by a child being infected with Covid-19. Employees and supervisors have been informed, and have been offered to hand out tests already tonight. The municipal doctor recommends testing of everyone.

Of the other five infected, four are middle-aged and one is over 80 years old. Four of the five adults are unvaccinated.

On-duty municipal chief physician Sturla Aam-Quabeck expects more cases of infection this week.

– The vast majority are infected via the household, so that a continued high number of new infected is also expected in the coming days. What will be decisive for the way forward is the number of new infected with an unknown route of infection, he states.
