The infection continues to gain momentum. Limit celebrations and parties, Vojtěch begs people

Already on Wednesday, the ministry announced a ban on internal events with standing places for more than 10 people. The new regulation is also to apply to restaurants, which are not allowed to let more people in than there are seats.

“We are banning the presence of the public in catering establishments between midnight and six o’clock in the morning across the Czech Republic,” Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES) announced on Thursday. At the same time, the minister called for people to try to limit the organization of large events, celebrations and parties.

“We know from the real practice that these are the most risky activities. So please appeal to all those who are going to organize such events in the coming period, to cancel them, to postpone them until a time that is epidemiologically calmer in this regard.” the minister said.

With effect from Friday, the obligation to wear a veil in all school premises from the second grade onwards, ie also in primary, secondary or university classes, will also apply. An exception will apply to gymnastics, singing or playing wind instruments.

The map of the epidemiological situation has also changed. There are 11 regions in the orange second risk level. Compared to last week, there were five more. Orange is Prague, most of the Central Bohemian Region, the Uherské Hradiště district and the new Cheb region. Most of the Czech Republic is in the first, green degree of risk. 13 districts without risk remained 13.

A new version of the e-Rouška application should be functional from Friday, which will alert the user to possible contact with the infected person. The minister called for people to use it. According to the Ministry of Health, the epidemic has picked up speed and it can be expected that by the end of September there may be up to 70,000 newly identified cases.

“Unfortunately, we are at reproduction number 1.6, and if the virus really kept this development going, at the end of September there could be 70 or more than 70,000 people infected in total,” says epidemiologist Ladislav Dušek. However, even such a number of diagnosed patients should be manageable for the capacities of Czech hospitals. According to current developments, most of them should not have more serious problems.

Currently, about four percent of those who test positive need hospitalization. Of those in the hospital, about one in four is in serious condition. On average, 30 patients with covid are admitted to hospitals daily and 20 are discharged. Hospitalization lasts an average of a week, in patients with a severe course of the disease about 14 days.

The number of infected people has almost doubled in the last seven days:
