Vietnam U-23 national team coach, Park Hang Seostated that the Garuda Muda squad that performed at SEA Games 2021 (SEA Games 2022) is stronger than three years ago.
Hang Seo knows Indonesian National Team U-23 currently strengthened by players who competed abroad such as Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman, Asnawi Mangkualam, Saddil Ramdani, and Elkan Baggott.
In addition, the South Korean coach also understands the existence of Marc Klok, who is a naturalized player. Hang Seo also understands that some of the players that Shin Tae Yong brought this time have experience competing in international competitions.
“The Indonesian U-23 national team has several players who participated in the AFF Cup late last year. They also have players who play abroad.”
“There are naturalized players from the Netherlands, there are those who play in England, in the Korean second division. With such strength, plus senior players, they are very strong. They are stronger than the previous tournament,” said Hang Seo quoted from Bongdaplus.
The U-23 Indonesian national team will have their first match at the 2022 SEA Games against Vietnam at the Viet Tri Stadium, Friday (6/5) night. Vietnam has been training intensively, even holding closed exercises guarded by security forces. Meanwhile, the U-23 Indonesian National Team which arrived in Vietnam on Tuesday (3/5) had also been practicing.
The Vietnam vs Indonesia duel is a repeat of the final three years ago in the Philippines. In the top match of the 2019 SEA Games, Vietnam won 3-0. In addition to winning in the final match, Vietnam also beat Indonesia in the group phase.
This time, the U-23 Indonesian national team hopes to win gold in the SEA Games sport for the third time after 1987 and 1991. Meanwhile, Vietnam wants to defend its title in front of the public itself.
“We are the reigning champions after winning gold in the Philippines two years ago. The Vietnamese people expect a lot from us,” Hang Seo told a press conference.
