COACH Indonesian National Team U-23, Shin Tae-yonglooking for excuses after his team lost 0-3 to Vietnam in the inaugural match of Group A SEA Games 2021, Friday (6/5/2022) night WB. He said one of the reasons why the Garuda Muda squad lost was because they practiced on a bad field provided by the 2021 SEA Games committee in the last few days.
Competing at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho, Vietnam, the U-23 Indonesian National Team was under pressure from Vietnam throughout the first half. They were unable to keep up with the attacking game from the home team even though the score remained 0-0 until halftime.

However, in the second half the Indonesian defense line was no longer able to stem the ferocity of the front lines of The Golden Star – Vietnam’s nickname. Nevertheless, Shin Tae-yong optimistic that Garuda Muda troops can rise from adversity. He believes his men have the ability to overcome difficulties at the beginning of the 2021 SEA Games.
“However, with the level of Indonesian U23 players, I believe we will overcome the difficulties to achieve our target,” concluded the 51-year-old coach.
Resurrection Indonesian National Team U-23 at the 2021 SEA Games, it can be done in the next match against Timor Leste. The second match of Group A will take place on Tuesday 10 May 2022 at 19.00 WIB.
