According to them, in Southeast Asia alone, the Indonesian national team is still having trouble competing. Evidently, the Indonesian national team has never won the AFF Cup trophy in history, plus it is still stuck in 155th position in the world, far behind Vietnam (97) and Thailand (111).
“Low ranking but want to move to another tournament, haha,” wrote Khanh Xip in one of the comments column on an article published by Vietnamese media, Dantri.
Dantri has just launched an article about Vietnam and Thailand which excludes the Indonesian national team from potential opponents in the FIFA Matchday September 2022. The reason is that Vietnam and Thailand are looking for opponents whose FIFA rankings are above them, so the Indonesian national team is not in the target.
In addition, Dantri also discussed PSSI’s plan to leave AFF and join EAFF. This is the concern of the Vietnamese people.
Previously, Dantri also raised speculations. If the Indonesian national team leaves the AFF, the position of the Garuda squad in the senior AFF Cup will be replaced by the Australian national team.
“If PSSI leaves the AFF, the Australian national team can replace the position of the Indonesian national team to take part in the AFF Cup,” wrote Dantri.

A number of Vietnamese people also support PSSI’s decision to leave the AFF. They also advised the AFF to invite Australia to play in the senior AFF Cup. Although they have joined the AFF since 2013, the Australian national team has never taken part in the senior AFF Cup.
“I hope that Indonesia leaves the AFF and its position is replaced by Australia,” said one Vietnamese football lover named Le Xuan Lan, commenting on the news from one of the Vietnamese media, Dantri.
