The Director General of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry in Indonesia, Tutuka Ariadji, has said that the government may be able to lower the price of subsidized fuel in the country if global oil prices decline. Ariadji noted that if oil prices reach $65 per barrel, then the price of Pertalite will have to be lowered. However, if oil prices do not drop, the price of Pertalite will not be lowered. Currently, Pertalite costs Rp10,000 per liter ($0.75). Global oil prices are currently above $80 per barrel, and subsidies are still needed. In March, the average Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) fell by $4.89 to $74.59 per barrel.
