The Indonesian Football Association maintains Shin Tae-yong’s coaching system until this year… Dismissed the theory of replacement

Finished in the semifinals of the AFF Cup… Rumors of a manager change ahead of the U-20 World Cup

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) denied the rumor of a manager change and announced that it plans to leave the coaching position to Shin Tae-yong until the end of this year.

According to Antara News Agency on the 26th (local time), PSSI Secretary-General Yunus Nushi met with reporters the day before and said, “We will maintain the new supervisory system,” and said that the contract period, which is set at the end of this year, will be guaranteed.

He added that Shin will start preparations for the U-20 Asian Cup to be held in Uzbekistan from March.

Since 2019, Shin has been in charge of both the Indonesian national team and the under-23 (U-23) and under-20 (U-20) national teams.

Under the leadership of Shin, Indonesia achieved results such as winning the 2020 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup runner-up, advancing to the 2023 Asian Football Federation (AFC) Asian Cup finals, and advancing to the 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup.

As a result, Indonesia’s FIFA ranking rose from 179th to 151st.

However, at the AFF Cup held earlier this month, Vietnam, led by coach Park Hang-seo, stayed in the semifinals, and public opinion arose in Indonesia that the contract with the new coach should be terminated and replaced with coach Park Hang-seo, who is leaving Vietnam.

As Indonesia hosts the U-20 World Cup to be held in May, interest in soccer is greater than ever.
