The relatively small number of vaccinated children simply means that group immunity in the UK has not yet been reached. Young unvaccinated people are far from immune and opening nightclubs and bars will only increase the number of those infected.
Given the relative weakness of group immunity and the increasing incidence of coronavirus infection, loosening basic public health measures seems not just irrational, but downright reckless, the Independent concludes.
