The Independent: Young people are not immune from the government’s reckless policies

Young people are not immune from the reckless policy of the British government in relation to covid, writes in an editorial “Independent”, quoted by BTA.

One of the reasons for the great success of the British vaccination campaign was that the majority of Britons were convinced that it was safe to get vaccinated. As part of the accelerated research activities and the vaccination campaign, safety has become a key consideration that everyone has taken into account, including ministers and health officials.

In rare cases of complications, it was customary to act with extreme caution. Younger people were given the choice to be immunized with a vaccine other than AstraZeneca, which is nevertheless quite effective. Experts speak openly and transparently about what is happening. The propagators of insane conspiracy theories lose the controversy.

There are no circumstances in which it is more important to follow the principle of “safety first” than those in which children are involved. This is especially true in the conditions of covid, writes the British edition.

The relatively small number of vaccinated children simply means that group immunity in the UK has not yet been reached. Young unvaccinated people are far from immune and opening nightclubs and bars will only increase the number of those infected.

Given the relative weakness of group immunity and the increasing incidence of coronavirus infection, loosening basic public health measures seems not just irrational, but downright reckless, the Independent concludes.
