The Incredible Story of Twins Lydia Ann and Timothy Ridgeway: Frozen as an Embryo in 1992, Born in 2022

In April 1992, when Nirvana was still a band, Lydia Ann and Timothy Ronald Ridgeway had already come to life. Even if they were still an embryo at the time. Thirty years after being frozen, they are now born. “I was five when God gave birth to Lydia and Timothy,” Father Philip Ridgeway tells CNN. “In a way, they’re our oldest children, even though they’re our youngest.” Ridgeway and mother Rachel Ridgeway already have four children, but the twins are the first to undergo in vitro treatments (IVF). “Amazing,” Ridgeway’s father called it.

According to the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC), which performed the embryo transfer, this is the oldest embryo that will eventually be born. The previous record holder was Molly Gibson. She was born in 2020 from an embryo frozen for almost 27 years. In a statement, the NEDC said it hoped this would encourage others to choose embryo adoption as well.
