A recent investigation of the Austin Police Department (APD), Texas, announced that A single suspect could be responsible for two murders in the regionwhich has led to him being labeled a possible serial killer.
DNA evidence links homicides Alyssa Ann Rivera, occurred in June 2024, and Alba Jennisse Avilésmurdered in 2018 due to similar characteristicswhich is why the case took a new turn in terms of the administration of justice.
Nathan Sextonan investigator with the APD Homicide Unit, confirmed that DNA samples recovered from The two crime scenes correspond to the same individual, who has not yet been identified.since there are no matches in the authorities’ databases.
Dark mystery
“Both homicides are sexual in nature, there is no connection between the victims, and in both scenes the same way of operating exists,” said the detective after analyzing the remains of the case that occurred on June 21, 2024from which all research starts.
At around 4:06 p.m. local time, authorities were alerted about the discovery of a body in an abandoned home in the 2600 block of Metcalfe RoadThe victim was identified as Alyssa Ann Rivera, a 34-year-old woman.
Once the scene was examined, Investigators found evidence suggesting Rivera was attacked under similar circumstances to those of Alba Jennisse Avilés, found dead on April 14, 2018 in a remote area of Bastrop County, just over 3 miles where Alyssa’s murder occurred.

Aviles, 28, was last seen leaving Club Caribe on Felter Lane, in Austin before her body was discovered inside a vehicle by a motorcyclist. The proximity of the murder sites and similarities in the suspect’s modus operandi have given impetus to the investigation.
