THE seizures of fireworks mortars have multiplied in recent days in the Paris region, in the run-up to July 14 and following the urban violence that erupted last week. In the past 48 hours, 1.5 tons of firework mortars were seized in the Paris area, announced the Paris police chief, Laurent Nuñez, on franceinfo this Friday. 14 people were arrested in four separate cases.
Tuesday evening, a stock of 300 to 400 kg of firework mortars had already been seized in a van, Porte de Clignancourt, in Paris. Three people had been arrested. According to Laurent Nuñez, “the Minister of the Interior has asked all the prefects throughout the territory to be attentive to the sale and transport of mortars [d’artifice]”prized by rioters and “subject to strict regulation”.
Reinforced vigilance
