The Increasing Foreign Casualties and Disappearances: China and Russia’s Support for Hamas

[앵커]

Due to Hamas’ raids on Israel, cases of foreign casualties and disappearances are increasing one after another.

In particular, China and Russia are suffering great damage, and while they claim to be neutral, they actually support Hamas.

Why? Beijing correspondent Kang Jeong-gyu reports.

As armed agents storm the road, car passengers fall flat.

The car carrying Chinese passengers was attacked while trying to escape, and one person was shot.

It is understood that three Chinese nationals staying in Israel were shot dead and four others went missing in a surprise attack by the Palestinian armed political faction Hamas.

A video of a half-Chinese woman being taken hostage was shared on Chinese social media.

However, the Chinese government claims to be neutral and is not disclosing the specific damage situation.

China, which mediated between Iran and Saudi Arabia last March, invited the Israeli Prime Minister to visit China within the year, following the visit of the head of the Palestinian Authority in June.

In Russia, one person died and nine people went missing.

Some of the missing may have been taken hostage by Hamas to prevent retaliatory attacks by Israel.

But Russia also raised its neutral flag, and Palestine expressed its gratitude.

Both China and Russia have in common that they are trying to fill the vacuum left by the United States in the Middle East by presenting the Israeli-Palestinian ‘two-state system’ as a solution.
