The Increased Risk of Heat Exhaustion and Heatstroke for Diabetic Patients in the Summer

Al-Marsad Newspaper: Cardiology consultant Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr revealed that a group of patients is more likely to suffer from heat exhaustion and heat stroke in the summer.

Al-Nimr said, in a tweet via his Twitter account: Diabetics are more likely than others to suffer from heat exhaustion and heatstroke in the summer.

He continued: Because the lack of control over sugar causes frequent urination and thus dehydration, and on the other hand, the effect of sugar on the nervous system leads to inefficiency of the sweat glands present in the skin as a means of lowering body temperature.
