The Incident in Vlissingen: Police Confirm Suicide Attempt, Not a Crime

By: Roland de Jong

VLISSINGEN – The incident in which someone was seriously injured in Vlissingen last night did not constitute a crime. The police said this when asked.

Around 9:45 p.m., the emergency services received a report of a possible stabbing in a house on Verkuijl Quakkelaarstraat. Two ambulance teams, several police units and an air ambulance were then deployed to provide assistance. The fire brigade also arrived on the scene.

Ultimately, the injured person was urgently transferred to a hospital by ambulance. Last night the police announced that it was not yet certain whether or not there was a criminal case. It is now clear that there was a suicide attempt. The case has thus been resolved before the police. Appropriate assistance will be arranged for the victim.
