The Incident at Veita’s Restaurant: Damaged Jacket and Lack of Responsibility

Veita’s jacket worth less than 200 euros was damaged as a result of the incident.

The restaurant waitress allegedly offered to help clean the jacket, but it didn’t go too well.

The musician contacted the owner of the restaurant to discuss the incident.

“The answer is – leave that jacket there, I have everything insured, I will talk to my insurers. After a while he calls me, says: you know, you can go collect that jacket, nothing will happen!”

In Veit’s view, the administration that promised to take care of the jacket should have done so.

Later, the musician took his jacket to the dry cleaners, but was told that it was impossible to clean the stain.

The owner of the restaurant, commenting on the incident, states that the musician and his lunch companion were served a meal.

“The entrepreneur bears no responsibility for the birds. This is not civil liability, it would be if, for example, the waiter poured something on the customer. In this situation, it was a bird, force majeureagainst which no one is immune,” says the restaurant owner.

On the other hand, the head of the Latvian Restaurant Association, Jānis Jenzis, emphasizes that every visitor can choose a table where to sit. This kind of risk should be taken into account in the urban environment.
