While the incidence of the new coronavirus disease in Latvia, Covid-19, is still the lowest in Europe, Lithuania and Estonia have been experiencing a significant increase in the incidence for several weeks.
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population on September 6 has risen to 17.1 in Estonia and 16 in Lithuania, compared to 4.8 in Latvia.

Covid-19 infection was confirmed in 43 people in Lithuania last day, the Ministry of Health said on Sunday.

19 new cases of infection were registered in Vilnius, 11 – in Kaunas, six – in Siauliai, three – in Klaipeda, three – in Taurage, but one case was registered in Marijampole municipality.
No Covid-19 deaths were reported in Lithuania last day. So far, 86 people have died from the disease in Lithuania, but the cause of death of another 13 people was different.
The new coronavir virus was detected in 25 people in Estonia last day, the Health Department said on Sunday.
As a result, the total number of confirmed infections in Estonia has reached 2,516.
Also in Estonia, no Covid-19 deaths were recorded last day. So far, 64 people have died from the disease in Estonia.
It has already been reported that three new cases of infection were registered in Latvia during the last day, performing 1596 Covid-19 tests. According to the information available to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPCC), all newly diagnosed patients are contact persons for previously ill people.
A total of 1428 persons became ill in Latvia, but 1187 recovered. To date, 35 people have been confirmed to have been infected with Covid-19.
