The mammography service is a cornerstone in the timely diagnosis of breast cancer, and the Regional General Hospital (HGR) No. 1 “Vicente Guerrero” of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) In Acapulco, has a high technology radiology equipment, the only one of its kind in Guerrero.
Blanca Azucena Javier Palma, radiologist with a subspecialty in interventional mammary radiology at HGR No. 1, explained that in each study projects four radiological images of the breasts, in order to detect breast cancer early.
He indicated that the team consists of high-resolution monitors, sonography equipment, which allow better image quality, real-time image display and multi-dimensional reconstructions.
“Today we have a very avant-garde, modern equipment with digitized technique, which has only been with us for a year, it is a completely new installation,” he explained.
He highlighted that daily between 10 and 15 studies of patients sent from Family Medicine Units (UMF) and IMSS hospitals throughout the entity are carried out.
