In the academic world, the IMRAD method is one of the approaches commonly used in writing scientific articles. IMRAD is an abbreviation of Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. This approach provides an organized structure and flow to present research and scientific findings clearly and effectively.
The first IMRAD method is preliminary (Introduction). The introduction serves to introduce the research topic, provide background, and present the research objectives. In the introduction, the author must concisely and clearly explain the background of the research, the research problem to be solved, and its relevance to the broader scientific context. Apart from that, the author must also ask specific research questions and describe the research objectives clearly. After the introduction, the next step is the method (Methods). This section is used to explain in detail the research design, research population, sample, data collection instruments, research procedures, and data analysis. The author must explain all research steps clearly, so that the research can be replicated by other researchers. This is very important so that research can be considered valid and trustworthy by the scientific community. After the method, the next section is the results (Results). This section is used to report findings or data found in research. Research results must be presented objectively and in detail. The use of tables, graphs, or other illustrations also allows authors to visualize data and helps readers understand research findings better. In addition, the results must also be related to the research questions asked and interpreted appropriately. After the results, the final step of the IMRAD method is discussion (Discussion). This section is used to analyze and interpret research results, evaluate findings, and relate them to related literature. Authors should explain in detail the implications of their findings in the broader research context. The discussion also involves comparing research results with previous research, explaining possible causes of the results found, as well as discussing the strengths and limitations of the research conducted. The discussion section may also include suggestions for future research and a broader theoretical framework.
This IMRAD method approach has several advantages in writing scientific articles. First, This approach provides a clear structure in compiling articles and makes it easier for readers to understand the flow and content of the research. An organized structure also helps authors convey their findings systematically.
Second, The IMRAD method allows authors to focus on important aspects of their research. By following the IMRAD format, the author will avoid the tendency to fall into irrelevant discussions or go too in depth in the methods section. This helps maintain the clarity and accuracy of the article.

This approach tends to be more suitable for structured scientific research, such as laboratory research or experiments that can be described sequentially. For qualitative research or research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the IMRAD approach may need to be adapted to meet the needs of the research.
So, the IMRAD method is an important reference in writing scientific articles. This approach provides a clear and structured framework for writing scientific articles effectively. By following the steps in the IMRAD method, authors can structure their articles in a more organized manner and make it easier for readers to understand research themes and findings. Even though there are limitations, using the IMRAD method remains a good choice for authors to present their research in the form of quality and informative scientific articles.
