Elon Musk and his initiative with Tesla Motors are trying to establish the use of electric cars as the main means of transportation. The South African tycoon says that this company does not generate profit for him. But he goes ahead with the project because it’s a environment friendly measure.
Anyone might think that the electric car initiative came from Tesla. And although it did encourage other companies in the automotive industry to compete with its machines in the market, this is a modality that has existed for approximately 200 years.
Obviously Tesla popularized electric motors in cars. BMW, Fiat, Volkswagen and many other conventional brands came out to compete with the company of Elon Musk. In fact, even Apple is planning to make its own vehicle with this boost mode.
The first electric car dates back to 1832. The modality was installed throughout the century and was maintained until the early 1900s. But oil exploitation revolutionized the industry with the conventional fuel we know today.
A photo that seems to be from current times, shows us the style of old cars from the beginning of the 20th century, with the charging modality that is gradually normalizing in Europe and the United States with Tesla today.
That is, a car parked in a garage, in 1911 New York, connected to a cable at an electric charging station. The image could easily be from the 2000s, but it was something that was normalized over 100 years ago.
