At dusk, storms have settled over the province’s sky to leave behind images like those accompanying the news. It is impressive just to see the accumulation of lightning that has fallen near the motorway to Villacarrillo or in the village of La Matea (Santiago-Pontones). The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) did not activate the risk of storms over the province today, Tuesday, although it did predict the possible arrival of showers and storms, mainly in the extreme southeast of the peninsula. It also stressed the intensity of the storm, which it described as “strong”, as was confirmed by residents of the La Loma region or in the Segura mountains.
Meanwhile, a total of 18 provinces in the country have been on alert for rain and storms on a day when temperatures were expected to tend to fall, although in Jaén some maximums exceeded 35º, as in Camporedondo (35.5º), Castellar (35.6º), Mogón (35.1º) or in the capital, in Puente de la Sierra (35.6º), according to the stations of the specialized portal Suremet. Thus, the heat does not let up with a view to a drop in mercury towards the end of the week.
