Arriving in the summer of 2023 from Sporting Club Lisbon, Manuel Ugarte could have joined another club. Ugarte explains his choice to join PSG
At the heart of the standoff between PSG and Chelsea during the summer transfer window, Manuel Ugarte finally joined the Ile-de-France club for an amount of 60 million euros. A wise choice in the eyes of the Uruguayan who does not regret having joined Paris Saint-Germain. “I am 100% convinced that coming here was the best choice. PSG, for me, is something incredible. Sometimes, I find it hard to believe that I am here because before coming, I did not imagine the scale of this club, its worldwide fame, its supporters… I am enjoying this incredible experience enormously, while focusing on achieving our goals,” said Manuel Ugarte.
Manuel Ugarte valuable for PSG
Since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain, Manuel Ugarte has gradually become an important element of Luis Enrique’s system. This season under the orders of the Spanish technician, the Uruguayan played 15 matches all together, or 71% of PSG’s matches this season. Over these fifteen matches, Ugarte started 13 times. The former Sporting CP player even provided two assists this season in the Ile-de-France jersey. Valuable in the game, Manuel Ugarte managed to forget the departure of Marco Verratti from the Parisian midfield.
