The important mafia boss Giuseppe Calvaruso was arrested at the Palermo airport

The mafia boss Giuseppe Calvaruso, considered head of the Sicilian clan of Pagliarelli by the anti-mafia prosecutor of Palermo, he has been arrested Sunday at Palermo’s Falcone e Borsellino airport.

Calvaruso is 44 years old and according to the magistrates for some years he had been managing the affairs of the clan – one of the most powerful of the Sicilian mafia – from Brazil. Four other people were arrested together with Calvaruso: Giovanni Caruso, Silvestre Maniscalco, Francesco Paolo Bagnasco and Giovanni Spanò. The arrests were ordered by a group of magistrates coordinated by the prosecutor of the Palermo Anti-Mafia District Directorate Salvatore De Luca. For the five the charges are of mafia association, extortion, personal injury, kidnapping and fictitious registration of assets.
