You cannot simply drape an order ribbon over a shoulder. Every award comes with a handbook with the do’s and don’ts, which also includes the right shoulder. In the case of the Danish order it is on the left, in the case of the Greek order of Saint Olga it is on the right. Marie-Chantal had apparently forgotten that for a while.

On arrival she wore the order ribbon over her left shoulder. In the wrong way. Somewhere along the way the mistake must have been quickly corrected, because a few minutes later she was wearing it on her right shoulder.

Estelle van Zweden (below left) is not yet an adult and therefore did not wear an order ribbon. Amalia wore the order ribbon (and the Grand Cross) of the Order of the Netherlands Lion. True to form, she wore it on the right. Elisabeth wore the grand ribbon of the Order of Leopold and it therefore also belongs on the right.
